Lawyer RICHARD A. MARCUS is an aggressive and experienced trial attorney licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts of California. With over eighteen years of trial experience, his practice primarily consists of business litigation and family law matters.
Richard graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Albany with a degree in finance from its prestigious business school in 1989. Thereafter, he attended Hofstra Law School and graduated in the top 18% of his class in 1992. At that time, Hofstra was ranked the top 26th law school in the nation.
After Law School, he became an Associate of the New York City Law Firm of Jacobs Zinns Schneyer & Braff, P.C., specializing in real estate litigation matters. There, he honed his skills as a trial attorney. Specifically, he litigated commercial real estate and landlord-tenant matters from inception through conclusion. He represented parties in real estate transactions including closings, lease and contract negotiations. He was also responsible for all phases of general commercial litigation, collections, and enforcement of money judgment actions and proceedings.
In January of 1994, he became a commercial litigation associate at the Law Firm of Pike & Pike, Esqs. where he was responsible for all phases of state and federal litigation from the drafting of pleadings through the completion of jury and bench trials. He represented approximately 30% of New York City luxury limousine transportation industry as its general counsel. He also drafted appellate briefs for unemployment insurance, workers’ compensation and other civil matters.
In April of 1996, he moved from New York to California to establish his own law firm.
His offices are centrally located in southern, California. Mr. Marcus’s practice focuses on business litigation matters representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil law suits, real estate litigation, and family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, mediation, arbitration. His firm also handles civil appeals and writs, contract law, business formation, entertainment law, corporate law, construction law, labor/employment, and other general practice matters.
He is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy program, and has been a member of the following organizations: New York City Trial Lawyers Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He presently have an A + rating with the California Better Business Bureau.
